Well we finally have a solid date! It's a week later than the original date, but we are told that they will try to get her in for Monday (5th), and if that doesn't happen then it will for sure be Tuesday (6th). While its a relief to know that it will happen, it has been extremely difficult to be in limbo as it plays with our emotions and prolongs the inevitable and dreaded hospital time. We feel at peace that everything will be okay in the end with our dear sweet girl, but it feels a little bit like being dangled over that "pit of flames" that we mentioned earlier to have to wait an extra week. We still put our hope and trust in God's perfect timing and will!
Please pray with us that we all stay healthy so that the surgery can indeed be next week. They'll send us home if anyone in the household is sick!! All of our hard work to get to this point in time is at stake at the moment. Just to give you a picture, making it to the original date was a bit like running a race with our girl in arms and then being able to finally put her down in the arms of the medical staff at Stollery to say, "There! Now she's yours to make and keep healthy! I've done my part!" So now with sweaty brow and worn muscles we have our girl back in arms!
We have so enjoyed this extra week of watching Yana's innocence and normal joie de vivre. Nana and Bumpa and Uncle Dan were especially grateful for this extra time having come from Ontario and BC. Yana has even come up with another alternative to Grandpa (as if Bumpa wasn't enough of a stretch!) and calls him "David!" She's a character.
We will be keeping you up to date through this site on a regular basis, as we have access to computers in the hospital - and a lot of waiting and sitting time! Please continue to pray with us throughout this whole process. Pray specifically that the surgery and ICU time goes well so that our time in hospital is limited. We also really love hearing from people, even just little notes of encouragement. They keep us going and give us peace.
In His Grip,
Heather, Mike, Yana & BB (aka: big bump) Oh! And pray that BB stays in and doesn't decide to join us for the ride...
