Another morning...

Good morning everyone. Yana did really well last night. Particularly, we saw some major roadblocks overcome. She was not drinking enough yesterday, or eating, and was not able to poop, except for little very hard ones. They constantly measure her output vs. input, and at one point were showing a -371ml fluid deficit. If it had continued, we might have had to put her on IV fluids.

But last night, she finally had her big poop, and it was reasonably soft. After that, she started to drink and get caught up. This morning, she's mostly caught up with her fluids, and has even started to snack a bit. Cheerios and cheddar bunnies every now and then; crackers. All good signs!

Of course, the mornings are often difficult around here. Because you have all your various daily procedures that have to take place. She needs to be weighed, medicated, taken down for chest x-rays, getting bloodwork done (needles), have her incisions inspected, pulse taken, chest listened to, tubes and wires taken out, plus the usual diaper change and mealtime on top of that. All of this takes place in a one to two hour timeslot, so it's a lot for our little girl to endure.

But she is such a trooper, and has done so wonderful. Thanksgiving continues for all that God is doing here. Thanks again for your prayers.

BTW, [Yawn], it was Daddy's turn to spend the night, so he is toast.

  1. Heather and Mike - you are wonderful patents. You do indeed know what's best for Yana, and how she responds.
It's marvellous that Yana's nana and bumpa can be there to help and support you.
Don and I continue to pray for Yana and for all of you.

  2. Hi all.
The "feel" of your notes are SO much lighter. Thank you for taking the time to share the day-to-day triumphs and tribulations...it is wonderful to see that the triumphs are in the lead!! (HOW did families & friends ever communicate all of this before the internet?)
I hope to see photos of Yana's smiles again real soon.
    Tight Hugs
