We talked with Dr. Rebeyka this morning, and he feels that we can go ahead with surgery tomorrow! He will do a visual assessment tomorrow morning before the surgery, but given her symptoms it really seems that she's had some sort of allergic reaction - slightly swolllen eyes, but only needed 1 nose wipe this morning. We are elated! "The prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective" (Paul said it somewhere in the NT!) and we believe it! Thank you for your prayers.
The surgery will be at 12 noon tomorrow, and we will be going in at 9 am for admission. They've told us that the surgery time isn't for sure until she's in the operating room (because another child might need urgent surgery). So there's something more to pray about!
They try to extubate children right in the operating room (take the oxygen tube out), and even wake them up. They expect her to be in ICU for no more than 48 hours if all goes well. And then off to recovery on the unit. She'll have chest tubes in for awhile, but apparently they let kids go and play chest tubes and all! Someone just carries the little vacuum while they walk! (Don't try to picture it, really.)
PRAY as well for a speedy recovery. Again, if all goes well, we could be out of the hospital in 7-10 days! Wooh!
With much gratitude for all of you and for a God who hears us and loves us and wants the best for us and our children,

ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear the surgery is a go. I will spread the word to the PPSMCP Team and ask them to hold all of you in their thoughts - especially Yana. Best of luck and try to get some rest tonight - give her a hug for me.

ReplyDeleteNana & Bumpa Tigchelaar want to thank Aunt Robin for building this site and including Yana's current favourite song called, "Baby Mine". Yana will wrap her stuffed animals in a blanket and sit and sing this song as she rocks the "baby" gently in her arms. What a precious site to watch and listen to!
